Call for registration Labs DRONGO Language Festival 2015

Present your research to the audience of the Netherlands’ largest language festival.
Compete for the Science Live @DRONGO Award, made available in cooperation with Science Centre NEMO.

A Lab consists of an interactive presentation by one or more representatives of a scientific research or find. During a Lab, visitors are actively involved in the presentation through games or tests. The Labs take place in the exhibition units on the Information Market. They last half an hour at most, serving groups of up to ten visitors at the same time. Each Lab is repeated several times, so as to accommodate multiple groups of people.

Do you want to host a Lab at DRONGO Language Festival on September 25 and 26? Just send us a short proposal. This proposal needs to list the subject you want to treat during your Lab, the manner in which you will present your subject, the language(s) in which you will be presenting it, and the main things participants will learn from it. Proposals need to be submitted no later than June 20 2015. When submitting a proposal, don’t forget to mention: your name, the name of the organization you represent, your mailing address, your phone number and your e-mail address. All contenders will hear whether they have been selected before or on July 1. Each participating Lab is asked to contribute to the festival financially. Researchers for whom a financial contribution forms an insurmountable obstacle are kindly requested to contact the organization.

This element of DRONGO Language Festival is organized in cooperation with Science Centre NEMO. Participants are invited to take part in a workshop about scientific communication that will be hosted by NEMO early September. All labs are included for the competition for the Award of best scientific communication on the subject of language. Furthermore, all Labs featuring a live scientific experiment will automatically compete for the Science Live @DRONGO Award. This award is offered by the festival and Science Centre NEMO. The winner(s) will be offered the opportunity to repeat their Lab event in Science Centre NEMO for the duration of two weeks. Additional information about Science Live can be found here: http://www.sciencelive.nl/overBoth Awards will be presented at the Language Resarch Night on Friday 25 September.

Proposals can be e-mailed to info@drongofestival.nl, quoting DRONGO-LABS in the e-mail subject, or sent by mail to De Taalstudio, Postbus 16584, 1001 RB Amsterdam. Additional information can be requested only through e-mail.
